Dogs: The mail problem in Veterinary Faculty... isn't ironic?

The principal problem in our faculty, is that is full of dogs that aren't t in the best conditions. Every week when we arrive to the faculty, we can find new dogs that can infect others of some diseases, ticks, or that simply they generate fights between the different herds, and apart from leaving injuries between the same animals, they can manage to damage the students that tries to separate them. Other problems due to the excess of dogs that are left by them owners, is the fact that, often, these turn out to be aggressive and attack the animals of "Mundo Granja", producing losses of sheeps principally, and animals of other species as, for example an emú who died in the first semester.

Lamentably there does not exist any radical measure that could stop this problem quickly, because this one is not due to wrong practices inside the faculty; it is due to the lack of information and culture of the persons who live near the faculty, which they believe that for the fact that the faculty is of veterinary, it has the means to take charge of their animals.
A measure that might be taken, is doing massive and free sterilizations or at very low costs in the surroundings of the university, to avoid to future "not wished puppybirths " and this way to avoid also the abandon of the puppies that the owners can't give.

Also another measure to take, could be to try to generate conscience in the colleges, and try that the owners get worry about sterilizing their dogs. The measures that I mentioned might be effective,in long-term, but for it it's needed lots of time, dedication and money, so, by this way that maybe this problem will continues the following years in our faculty.

Favourite animal

The truth is that it is very difficult to me to decide which is my favorite animal, but if somebody ask me to choose an animal that I would like to take as a pet, I guess i would choose the ferret The ferret it is a domestic mammal of the family of Mustela putorius furo. They are predators and present a very marked sexual dimorphism, this is to say, that the males are considerably bigger than females.
The colors of the ferrets are the quoit, black, white or mixed skin; they measure approximately 50 centimeters (including the tail that measures 13 cm) and weigh among 0.7 and 2 kilograms.

They can manage to live from 7 to 10 years.
The ferret is a very near parent of the turón, but what isn't yet known, is if it is a domesticated form d of the European turón, Steppe turon, or an hybrid of both. In some parts of the world, ferrets are used as animals of hunt for rabbits, because they are very flexibles and it make easier them to enter to the burrows, but as the years went by, the upbringing of these animals has passed to be for the mostly for domestic purposes.
As pets, they are energetic, curious, playful and much sociable than cats; in fact, in the USA are the third pet most frequent. The dangers than having ferrests at home, are that as they are such curious, they are in the habit of putting behind wardrobes and domestic appliances, which is an extremely dangerous because they can be electrocuted.

Places to go in Stgo.

I really don't know Santiago very well, because I've been living here only since last year, but if i had to recommend to somebody, i guess that the 5 places to visit in Santiago, that i would choose are:

In first place, i would recommend to visit the "san Cristobal hill"because, there are many centers of tourist attraction, for example, there is the detropolitan zoo, two swimming pools, the "Ermitaño" (that it is a place where people can make barbecues in evenings), and the house of the culture "Anahuac", in which there are realized art exhibitions, events, seminars etc.

After visiting the hill san critobal, a very good option to have lunch would be the mystician "piojera" (named by Arturo Alessandri), that is located opposite to the central market. In "la Piojera", you can consume some typical Chilean foods, and to drink the delicious "terremoto".

Another place that a foreigner should visit, specially if is a young person, is "bellavista neighborhood" . This neighborhood concentrates most of the Bohemian night of Santiago; so, there we can find locals for all the types of taste; from homosexual clubs up to "salsotecas". Definitively in a good place to go out at night.

Also I would recommend to do a tour for the handcraft center " Pueblito de los Domínicos", which has more than 160 workshops of different regions of Chile. This handcraft center even preserves the aspect of village, and is located in the center of Las Condes.

And finally, I think that every foreign person should visit the “Bellas Artes Museum” and the MAC (Museo de Arte Contemporáneo), that depends of the University of Chile.
